Katy Colton heads the politics and law group at Mishcon de Reya’s Mishcon Private arm, where she specialises in political disputes and commercial litigation. She is regularly called upon to advise on public law issues and is often involved in high-profile cases. 

In 2016, she acted for anti-Brexit campaigner Gina Miller in her judicial review claim against the British government, where she successfully argued that Article 50 (which sets out how a country can leave the European Union) could not be triggered without parliamentary authorisation. She also made legal history by securing the first ‘fake news’ injunction, advising former MP Margaret Hodge in 2018.
