Sandra Davis has stepped back from her long-running role heading up Mishcon de Reya’s family law department, but she remains a huge power in the industry. ‘My concern is to make sure there’s a sustainable brand and that those underneath me take the baton and carry on what I’ve built up over many years,’ she says. ‘I’m interested in bringing people along, sharing my knowledge and my contacts.’

Davis reveals to Spear’s that she’s doing more outward-facing work. ‘I’m speaking more, I’m writing more, I’m running conferences. I’m doing more mentoring and enabling, but I’m not doing less client work.’ She is also on the board of the children’s charity Place2Be, an organisation aiming to improve mental health among young people. 

Across her career, she has acted for high-profile clients including Princess Diana, Jerry Hall and Thierry Henry. ‘Divorce is a depth charge and it can create consequences that the parties involved do not anticipate at the outset, particularly for children,’ Davis says. ‘I like to help holistically, because I’ve got the experience to do that.’
