Spear’s Review

Employment lawyer Joanna Blackburn was nominated for inclusion in the Spear’s indices by a well-respected colleague who praised her as a lawyer who has been ‘operating at the top end of this world for two decades, and is a first-class operator’.

As a partner at Mishcon de Reya, Blackburn specialises in a broad spectrum of contentious and non-contentious matters, from executive terminations and discrimination cases to wrongful dismissals and large-scale reorganisations. Her clients include employers and employees from the financial services, private equity, media and fashion industries.

Over her career, Blackburn has gained significant experience at employment tribunals and the High Court. Between 2012 and 2014 she acted in a landmark Supreme Court case that tested the scope of the 2010 Equality Act, and that set a precedent that provides law firm partners protection under whistleblowing laws.
