Kamal Rahman, partner and head of Mishcon de Reya’s immigration group, advises some of the world’s wealthiest families on immigration, residency and citizenship solutions – particularly, she told Spear’s, ‘where their needs do not fit neatly into immigration rules’.
Private client work is at the heart of Mishcon, and the immigration practice not only provides bespoke immigration solutions but also assists clients with navigating other services they require, such as tax planning, real estate investments and family law, all growing from the initial trust created by successful immigration applications.
As head of department, Rahman is highly concerned with developing well-rounded juniors. She said: ‘They don’t just sit there and say, “I’m an immigration lawyer. Instruct me.” People are so used to being sold to, the last thing you want to do is sell to them. What you want is to build an authentic relationship, and that’s really how I try and teach our team to work.’
