‘[The team] are very commercial; lots of us come from a commercial background, so we can be empathetic with the client, whilst also being objective with the bigger picture and trying to figure out what the end goal is,’ he tells Spear’s.

As head of the private wealth disputes team, Mowat has seen much conflict arise concerning succession and estate planning, particularly where there are also cases involving vulnerable individuals and those with a public profile who value their privacy. ‘We’re often instructed on cases where there are allegations of serious wrongdoing, fraud, dishonesty ... money has gone missing, assets have gone missing or assets need to be traced,’ he says.
