Alastair Laing, a partner and co-head of Forsters’ corporate practice, specialises in acquisitions and disposals, joint ventures, shareholder arrangements and group restructurings. 

Clients include UHNW and HNW individuals, family offices, family-owned businesses and entrepreneurs. He tells Spear’s that he has seen an uptick in joint venture activity, particularly as family offices team up to share risk on certain investment projects.

Commercially focused, Laing says that he ‘strives to ensure that his clients’ business as well as legal objectives are achieved’ and that he takes pride in his ability to put clients at ease by listening to their concerns and understanding their position before explaining their legal options in simple, jargon-free language.

He is also ‘sensitive to the impact that a client’s personal circumstances and relationships (both with family members and others) can have on the decisions they make with regards to their legal affairs’.
