Forsters partner James Brockhurst is widely regarded for his expertise in digital assets. A private client lawyer by practice, he also advises a host of UHNWs and family offices on tax, succession planning and governance. As clients are increasingly viewing cryptocurrencies and digital assets as an investment opportunity, he finds that his practices are intersecting more and more; recently, Brockhurst has advised on the situs of cryptocurrencies for succession purposes.
He has also authored a book, Cryptoassets for Private Clients, which has served as a reference work for his fellow advisers. ‘What differentiates myself and Forsters over the more recent entrants into the market is we got in early. That meant that we could pick up a lot of the biggest crypto owners and investors,’ he explains to Spear’s.
In 2025, Brockhurst moved to Abu Dhabi to lead Forsters’ expansion in the Middle East; the new office will support local UHNWs, entrepreneurs and family offices, and those with interests in the region.
