Forsters partner James Brockhurst is widely regarded for his expertise in digital assets. 

A private client lawyer by practice, Brockhurst also advises a host of UHNWs and family offices on tax, succession planning and governance. As clients are increasingly viewing cryptocurrencies and digital assets as an investment opportunity, he finds that his practices are intersecting more and more; recently, Brockhurst has advised on the situs of cryptocurrencies for succession purposes.

In 2023, he released a book, Cryptoassets for Private Clients, which has served as a reference work for his fellow advisers. ‘What differentiates myself and Forsters over the more recent entrants into the market is we got in early. That meant that we could pick up a lot of the biggest crypto owners and investors,’ he explains to Spear’s. 

In addition to helping UK-based HNWs with their tax affairs, Brockhurst frequently travels to the Middle East as part of his private client work.
