Ellie Hampson-Jones is conscious of the emotional complexity of her cases. Formerly an associate at Penningtons Manches Cooper, Hampson-Jones enjoys the ‘varied and high-tempo cases’ that Stewarts is known for, from multi-jurisdiction, highly complex cases with assets in excess of £100 million for UHNW individuals, to cases involving clients dealing with financial and welfare proceedings. She works from the firm’s Leeds office, providing ‘true London quality’ at the firm’s northern outpost.

Ellie has a firm grasp of international family law issues. She has a particular interest in cases with an Anglo-US dimension, having spent time working in Los Angeles for a prestigious family law firm before qualifying as a solicitor in the UK. More recently, Ellie has experience in cases spanning a number of jurisdictions including (but not limited to) Japan, Israel, Russia and Lebanon. 

Ellie’s clients praise her for her client-focused demeanour and ability to put the client and their needs at the heart of everything she does. She is praised for her commerciality and for being able to see the ‘bigger picture’. Ellie enjoys guiding clients to the other side of difficult relationships. 

Ellie has a particular specialism in private equity cases, acting on behalf of the private equity stakeholder or their spouses. Ellie also has a wealth of experience working with city professionals (including lawyers, accountants and those in the service industry), having started her career working for the chief financial officer of a FTSE 100 company. 

Ellie has experience representing parents involved in contentious children matters alongside often-complex financial disputes. She prides herself on being able to provide clients with a full-scale service in conjunction with specialist practitioners from Stewarts’ financial and children teams. 

Outside of work, Ellie is a trained yoga instructor and has founded a running/walking community for mothers. Ellie understands the toll that contentious proceedings can take on clients’ well-being and uses this understanding to help clients achieve balanced and successful outcomes.
