Camellia Buckmaster joined Payne Hicks Beach in 2016 and was brought under the wing of Baroness Fiona Shackleton. ‘One thing we've always learned from Fiona is to give [clients] the hard truth,’ she says. ‘A lot of these people are surrounded by “yes men”, but you’ve got to give them advice, particularly in difficult situations.’

She supports UHNW clients on the full gamut of family law needs, including pre- and postnuptial agreements, Schedule 1 cases, jurisdictional disputes and complex financial matters. She has worked on some of her firm’s most prominent cases, including the Potanin v Potanina Supreme Court case. 

Reflecting on her work, Buckmaster notes: ‘Eighty per cent of the time clients go with your advice, and 20 per cent of the time they don’t, but you still fight as hard as you can for that 20 per cent.’
