Payne Hicks Beach partner Emma Copestake acts for HNWs, investors, developers, banks and institutions in complex and often multi-jurisdictional matters relating to residential property in London and beyond. She has particular expertise in niche areas of the law such as landlord and tenant matters, contentious and non-contentious enfranchisement/lease extensions and complex funding arrangements.

Copestake is known to have built long-standing relationships with many of her clients, some of whom have been with her for 25 years. ‘I think, increasingly, wealthy families want the person who is there for them,’ she tells Spear’s. ‘I’ve got no financial interest other than to look after them, but I’ve got the experience and knowledge to be able to give the advice.’

Her firm reports that in many cases Copestake provides advice and support to multiple generations of the same family; on this, she says: ‘It’s incredibly rewarding and very humbling to have that huge responsibility.’
