‘I aim to steer clients through the choppiest of waters to a safe haven in a storm,’ Payne Hicks Beach partner Victoria Hingston says. ‘They find me a reassuring presence – empathetic, but objective when it matters most.’
Hingston works across a wide spectrum of family law issues, including cohabitation, pre- and postnuptial agreements, international children work and leave-to-remove applications. She often takes on international clients whose assets are spread across different countries, ‘but then I’ll have other [occasions] where all of my clients’ assets are in the UK’, she says.
‘The reason I like doing this job is because I like getting people through a very difficult time in their life. Fiona Shackleton always says that it’s divorce, not death – and she’s right. So you’ve got to wrap yourself around your client and steer them through.’
