‘I am a firm believer that being an excellent technical lawyer is simply not enough in the field in which I operate,’ says Leeds-based Adrian Clossick of Stewarts. ‘The real skill is in being able to take that technical expertise and convert it into pragmatic commercial advice that clients can understand.’

Clossick’s career has been spent entirely in the North; he trained at Addleshaw Goddard in Leeds before joining Gordons.

In 2009, he established the divorce and family law team at Stewarts’ Leeds office. And it’s certainly been a heady ride since then. ‘Although my reputation was developed in the northern market, I would hope that my reputation now extends further afield – I am fortunate that many of my cases involve international jurisdictions and, for example, overseas trust assets,’ he explains.

Adrian is a Partner at Stewarts and the Head of the Divorce and Family Law team in Leeds. Having been a founder member of the team in 2009, Adrian now heads up a team of 14 individuals.  His clients are based both nationally and internationally.

A significant number of Adrian's cases involve trusts (both on and offshore), commercial and tax issues, family businesses, inherited wealth, international aspects and the tracing of assets. He has considerable expertise in the negotiation of pre-nuptial and post-nuptial agreements and the treatment of personal injury damages on divorce.   Adrian frequently advises professional and City based clients and is adept at advising in situations involving complex income arrangements, incentive plans and carried interests.  He is Head of the Divorce and Family Professional Practices Group at Stewarts.

Adrian has a particular interest in cohabitation claims, including the property rights of unmarried families. Away from the office, Adrian can often be found walking in the Yorkshire Dales and is a frequent visitor to the Isle of Skye.
