Spear’s Review
Fara Mohammad, a partner at Keystone Law in London, specialises in advising clients in the Middle East and Asia on investing in the UK.
While the UK welcomes overseas investors, there are rules that individuals and corporates might not have experienced in their home countries; Mohammad’s role is to smooth the process.
‘The issue is enabling investors to understand what they need to do, because the UK is quite regulated, often in a different way to how it’s done in their original jurisdiction,’ she tells Spear’s. ‘Then, almost all of them want to do things in a sharia-compliant manner, and some want to go through family offices.’
Mohammad can also assist investors who are not connected to the UK but seek to use English law because they trust its safety and neutrality, which may not be the case in their country.
