Spear’s Review

Carl Newman leads Withers’ white-collar crime and investigations team in the UK, frequently working with the firm’s partners around the world, especially those in the US and Singapore. 

Given that the string of cases he’s worked on reads like a series of thrillers, it’s not hard to see why he chose his specialisation in law. But it’s not the excitement that attracted him.

He tells Spear’s: ‘I always wanted to support the individual who’s being faced by the power of whatever organisation is investigating them. I always liked the idea of being the one who stands there shoulder to shoulder with that individual and makes sure that everything is done properly and that they have all the opportunities they deserve.’

Recent clients include TV stars, former athletes and a senior executive of one of the UK’s biggest companies.
