Philip Munro, a partner in Withers’ private client and tax team, ‘doesn’t have a typical client’; instead, he ‘takes on whatever crosses [his] desk’. His practice is, however, consistently international; he has operated in Hong Kong, Singapore and various other jurisdictions in Asia. He also has a niche specialism in sharia succession issues.

Munro manages the tax aspects of succession, liquidity events and cross-border matters for his UK and non-UK-based clients. All cases are high value, often in the $100 million-plus range. Recently, he was involved in one of the highest-value property transactions in London.

He also helps his clients achieve and maintain privacy, arguing that the people he represents seek discretion for legitimate reasons – especially when it comes to international clients.
