Predominantly based in New York, Withers’ global head of media and reputation Amber Melville-Brown has been the solicitor of choice for heads of state, blue-chip corporations and numerous UHNWs. ‘It became obvious to me very, very early on that what was really essential was being emotionally intelligent and being able to communicate,’ she tells Spear’s. 

A partner at Withers since 2009, Melville-Brown was admitted as a New York attorney in 2019 and is now a dual-qualified reputation lawyer in England and Wales and New York. 

‘Knowing the law is, in my view, a given,’ she says. ‘You have to know what legal tools are available, but you [also] need to be able to communicate with your client; you need to be able to communicate properly with your opponent, with the court, with the public, so that the job you’re doing is as successful as possible.’
