As partner, he advises on the spectrum of real estate acquisition and disposal matters for HNWs and families with complex portfolios that may include residential and commercial property. 

A £60 million property purchase is a typical example of the transactions that arrive at his desk. One career highlight involved a country house that was sold for the first time in a generation to ‘a long-standing client with global wealth’. 

An Oxford philosophy, politics and economics graduate, Horwood trained and qualified at Linklaters before working at Macfarlanes from 2004 to 2009. He joined Farrer in 2010 as a member of the firm’s private banking and investment management group.

Laurie acts for individuals, institutions, private banks and others on property transactions, with a particular focus on high-value residential properties. He has acted for many of his clients for many years as their property interests have become more valuable and complex. He has an excellent understanding of the value and importance of relationships within the private wealth world and a desire to work collaboratively with all those involved in a transaction.

Laurie’s individual clients are predominantly, but not exclusively, high-net-worth with a background in finance or the City or with an international element. Many of them have complex property requirements and require proactive and commercial advice.
