‘To be a good family lawyer, you need to balance a calm and empathetic approach with being decisive,’ Flora Harragin, a partner at Farrer & Co, tells Spear’s.
Harragin manages a busy practice, with a focus on financial remedies and children work. As a member of Union Internationale des Avocats, many of her cases have an international element – involving Spain and Portugal in particular.
‘My main priority is to help parties separate amicably and with mutual respect,’ she says. ‘You’re aiming for them to still be able to dance with each other at their children’s weddings.’
She is a member of Resolution – an organisation in which she has played an active role – and the Family Law Agreements Group, which adopts a client-focused approach to the drafting and negotiation of nuptial, separation and pre-nuptial agreements.
