Petra Warrington developed her interest in art at the renowned Courtauld Institute before becoming a lawyer. ‘My background in the art market informs how I advise clients and gives me an understanding of the issues they face, whether they are navigating auctions for the first time or they are seasoned collectors,’ she tells Spear’s.

Warrington spent time at Hunters and Charles Russell Speechlys before joining Wedlake Bell in 2022 alongside Tim Maxwell and Rudy Capildeo. Now a partner at the firm, her practice covers the full breadth of the art market, from advising on sale and purchase and due diligence, to navigating issues arising from disputed provenance or authenticity.

She also helps her clients – who include institutions, international family offices and artists from all over the world – maximise their returns, ‘exposing their artworks to a wider audience, having them accepted into international exhibitions and then growing the importance and reputation of the collection’.
