Simon Blackburn is responsible for the agriculture and landed estates practice as partner at Wedlake Bell. Prior to joining the firm in 2025, Blackburn led Payne Hicks Beach’s landed estates and rural property team, and covered the acquisition, disposal and management of country houses, farms, estates ‘and anything legal that goes with it’.

Particular specialisms include dealing with unregistered land, ‘old’ (pre-1995) agricultural tenancies, chancel repair liabilities and interests arising from lordships of the manor.

Such breadth of specialism leads to a wide-ranging client base of ‘over 50 UK-based landed families, through to overseas investment companies which hold UK farmland on behalf of major European families’.
