Phineas Hirsch joined Payne Hicks Beach in 2024 after 12 years at Withers, bringing with him extensive knowledge of the private wealth sphere.

A partner in the firm’s international tax practice, Hirsch advises a wide client base, from domestic farming and agricultural clients to Middle East- and US-based families and entrepreneurs with little connection to the UK. Many of his clients are putting in place structures to pass down their wealth, and so Hirsch advises on succession, estate planning and asset protection, as well of the tax implications of any decisions.

‘Advisers can tend to jump in with proposals and suggestions without taking into account what the client wants,’ he tells Spear’s. In contrast, Hirsch places an emphasis on taking the time to get to know his clients to understand their needs. ‘Listening to them, and giving them an opportunity to really share their vision and what their objectives are is really important.’
