Lluis Jauma Costa studied economics at one of Spain's most selective universities before starting his career at Deutsche Bank preparing client presentations. Two decades in wealth management have taken him from Barcelona to Madrid, Dublin, Mexico City and London, and today his focus is wealth transition: helping clients prepare the next generation to manage the money and business interests they stand to inherit.

The UBS investment adviser, who oversees around CHF 3 billion in client assets, is based in Geneva and covers the Spanish, Portuguese and Greek markets. Typically, he works with families who are looking to maintain their capital through a series of offshore investments. He has extensive knowledge of Iberian markets: he served as a regional wealth manager for a private bank in Spain, and has worked in Mexico City and London.

Jauma Costa’s two decades in finance have prepared him to work with clients who tend to be entrepreneurial and seek open communication. ‘My first step when I have a new client is to sit with them and see what it is they need,’ he tells Spear’s. ‘Wealth planning is the starting point.’
