As a client adviser and executive director in UBS’s UHNW global wealth management team, Winston Yap provides a range of services to a select number of entrepreneurs, hedge fund and private equity principals and senior executives, as well as UK-resident non-doms. 

His areas of expertise include investment management; lending, including residential and commercial mortgages, lending against investment portfolios, aircraft finance and bespoke structured lending; wealth planning, namely tax, trust and estate planning; and philanthropic advisory. HNW, UHNW and family office clients also benefit from access to UBS’s large network of investment banking and asset management professionals.

Yap was nominated for the Future Leader award at the 2022 Spear’s Awards and has been recognised as a UBS Optimus Foundation Optimist for his work to develop philanthropy within wealth management.

Adviser Profile

Winston Yap is a Client Advisor and Executive Director in UBS’s UK UHNW Global Wealth Management team. He joined UBS in 2015, having spent three years at Barclays Private Bank in London and New York. Winston works with a select number of clients, with around half made up of financial professionals and the rest being entrepreneurs, senior executives and wealth inheritors. Around one-third of his client base have an international dimension; be that either having moved to, or moved from, the UK.

Winston works with clients to bring them UBS’s full suite of holistic wealth management solutions, be that cash and investment management, wealth planning, philanthropy or lending. Clients benefit from highly customised investment portfolios and access to alternative investment opportunities such as private equity and hedge funds, often on exclusive and preferential terms. 

Winston has built a significant part of his practice on UBS’s market-leading philanthropy offering, which provides strategic advice, insights and execution capabilities, such as the in-house UBS UK Donor-Advised Foundation. More broadly, he has leveraged the UBS group capabilities, including introducing clients to the Unified Global Banking team – a team dedicated to providing M&A and corporate finance advice to wealth management clients with institutional needs.

Outside of UBS, Winston is a Governor of a federation of three maintained primary schools, enjoys theatre and has run three marathons. He graduated from the University of Warwick and is a Chartered Fellow of the CISI and Chartered Management Institute.
