Ashley Coombes, managing director within UBS’s UHNW team, has just under two decades of experience managing the wealth of key clients at the bank.

Coombes’ clients are typically UK residents, but in recent years she has carved a niche by serving US expats living in the UK. This requires an understanding of the complex tax laws of both jurisdictions, and in this regard, clients benefit from UBS’s global network: ‘We work very closely with our professional counterparts, especially in the US,’ she notes.

She also has significant experience navigating family dynamics and multigenerational wealth transfers, and understands the importance of involving the entire family in wealth planning: ‘We’re always thinking about next-gens and how to support them,’ she tells Spear’s. ‘I try to build family discussions organically and over time.’

Ashley Coombes is a Client Advisor and Team Lead within the ultra-high-net-worth business at UBS Global Wealth Management in London, where she has been helping entrepreneurs, investment professionals and their families identify and achieve their financial objectives since 2007. Prior to this, she worked in institutional sales at Bloomberg.

Alongside her role, Ashley is a CFA Charterholder and a member of the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment. She is on the Board of Trustees, is Treasurer and sits on the investment and audit committees of the Baring Foundation, a large independent grant-giving foundation which aims to improve the quality of life of people facing disadvantage and discrimination. Ashley also partners with E2Exchange, an organisation supporting UK scale-up entrepreneurs.

She holds an honours degree in Industrial Economics from the University of Warwick. When not at work, Ashley enjoys spending time with her two children, as well as ballroom and Latin dance.
