As well as serving as lead partner for Irwin Mitchell’s London office, Deborah Casale is an employment lawyer who specialises in advising senior executives and directors within the financial services industry. She acts on a wide spectrum of issues, from contract negotiations and post-termination restrictions to unfair dismissal, whistleblowing and discrimination.

Casale has been known to negotiate high-value settlement agreements, and has taken some cases all the way to the High Court. ‘The key is looking at the big picture and not just the technical legal issues. What do [clients] want to achieve in their careers? What do they want going forward? How are we going to get them there?’ Casale explains. 

This holistic approach can include looking at arrangements from a tax perspective, or taking steps to ensure that an employee’s departure is as smooth as possible and the messaging behind the move clear and simple.
