George Pascoe-Watson
Spear’s Review
Former journalist George Pascoe-Watson spent more than two decades at the Sun. Having joined in 1988, he worked his way up to political editor and held the role for five years before leaving the paper for the communications agency Portland, where he was a senior partner and subsequently chairman.
In 2023 Pascoe-Watson joined Schillings as a founding partner of the firm’s new consultancy business, Schillings Communications, alongside Victoria O’Byrne.
Speaking exclusively to Spear’s about the launch of the new business, Pascoe-Watson described one’s reputation as ‘the most valuable asset’ a business person or high-profile figure could have.
Schillings Communications is designed to assist clients with ‘high-stakes situations’ – both opportunities and threats. ‘[A]s soon as you want to take advantage of [an] opportunity, suddenly there’s the scrutiny and the spotlight,’ Pascoe-Watson said. ‘A lot of people are uncomfortable with that. Our job is to make them feel confident and secure enough that they can take advantage of the opportunity.’
