A partner at Boodle Hatfield, Edward Allan specialises in acquisitions and disposals of high-value properties. Focusing on the prime London market and country estates, Allan predominantly works for HNW families, including landlords and tenants.

While he is mainly focused on residential transactions, Allan explains that his practice has become increasingly holistic. He tells Spear’s: ‘Over the last few years, I have coordinated some complicated tax advice for clients, because of the non-dom changes.’

Indeed, he has navigated complex cases throughout his career, from intricate tax issues to breaches of the listed building regime. In one particularly memorable case: ‘My client was selling a house in Chelsea and was going on a silent retreat, so we wouldn’t have any contact. While the buyer had agreed to exchange in two weeks, we did it in one week, knowing that my client would be uncontactable.’
