Jo Carr-West
Spear’s Review
Jo Carr-West’s practice covers all aspects of family law and is evenly split between finance and children law. ‘What I’m particularly interested in is where there is an intersection between the two,’ she tells Spear’s. ‘It’s case-by-case, but you can act for the same clients and deal with all of it at the same time.’
She specialises in cases involving complex financial structures, including inherited assets, trusts and private companies. Alongside this, she advises on issues of safeguarding, having experience in cases involving domestic violence, and the financial aspects of supporting a child who has special educational needs.
Carr-West is a trained mediator, offering clients the one couple, one lawyer approach, which allows separating parties to jointly instruct her advice.
Having joined Hunters on qualification in 2004, Carr-West was quickly recognised for her ability to handle cases with creativity, sensitivity and pragmatism. ‘No two cases are the same, and a creative approach enables me to find solutions in seemingly intractable cases,’ she says. ‘It recognises the diversity of clients’ experiences and priorities.’
