Katherine Res Pritchard, a partner in Howard Kennedy’s family team, has built her career around navigating the most complex and sensitive issues in private children law. 

A specialist in cross-border disputes, she regularly works across jurisdictions to advise on high-stakes international relocation cases, including applications under the Hague Convention and abductions.

‘Something I’ve noticed more recently is that families are a bit more nomadic; people are following their work around the globe,’ she tells Spear’s. ‘It’s in line with the global market and global wealth changes.’

Her domestic practice is no less intricate, covering everything from child arrangements following divorce or separation, to allegations of abuse, to surrogacy and fertility law. 

As a qualified mediator, she is committed to trying to settle cases outside of court when possible. ‘[Non-court dispute resolution] is so important. People are looking to mediation more and more, and then if things don’t work, there’s arbitration.’
