White-collar crime specialist Ian Ryan has more than a quarter-century worth of experience handling business crime and serious fraud cases.

The head of Howard Kennedy’s business crime team runs an international practice that has seen him represent clients in investigations by the Serious Fraud Office (SFO), the Financial Conduct Authority, the Competition and Markets Authority, HMRC, the Crown Prosecution Service and the National Crime Agency.

Ryan lends his expertise to both individual and corporate clients on high-profile, complex and serious fraud, financial crime and regulatory work. His cases often have an international aspect, with the core team in London working with lawyers from other jurisdictions. 

Career highlights include successfully defending Martin Blackburn in the Gary Senior case at the Solicitors Disciplinary Tribunal in 2020 and Andreas Hauschild at trial in 2019. He has also been involved in the SFO investigations into Glencore, GSK and Tesco.
