Urvi Shah leads a team within Barclays Private Bank & Wealth Management focused on providing bespoke wealth and investment advice to clients in Africa and the Middle East.
These clients tend to be families with generational wealth who seek offshore ‘nest eggs’ due to political uncertainty in their home country. ‘Preservation is a very key priority [for clients]’ she tells Spear’s. ‘Ultimately, we start with a blank sheet of paper and try to shape what their objectives are and then break them down into investment solutions.’
With recent growth in Middle Eastern markets, Shah has seen an increase in entrepreneurs, particularly from the fintech world, who are interested in offshore investments and want access to the international solutions that her team can provide.
