Spear’s Review
Isabelle Hayhoe heads up the philanthropy advisory service at Barclays Private Bank & Wealth Management. ‘My personal view is that, as a wealth management business, we should be helping clients be the best stewards of wealth,’ Hayhoe tells Spear’s.
She asserts that having conversations with clients about philanthropy should occur earlier in the wealth creation process, citing Barclays research that found that 81 per cent of UK wealth holders want advisers to discuss philanthropy proactively.
In addition to educating donors and families about how to start, develop or evolve a philanthropic strategy, she helps her clients identify how they can most effectively make an impact, and connect them with one another to magnify that impact.
‘Good giving is about being curious,’ she says. ‘It begins with questioning your own role in society, and in the world.’
