Dr Michael Beckles is an experienced lung cancer specialist who offers services through the Royal Free Hospital and at his own private practice on Devonshire Street. He is also affiliated with the Wellington Hospital (run by HCA Healthcare), where he was the former chair of the respiratory group. 

Appointed a consultant physician at the Royal Free Hospital in 2001, Beckles has expertise in lung cancer, pneumonia, bronchoscopy and sarcoidosis.

Beckles has supported a number of figures in the public eye with their healthcare concerns, and has acted as an expert witness in civil cases about asbestos exposure in the workplace. He has a wide interest in medical education and has been involved with the creation of international guidelines for lung cancer management.

Dr Michael Beckles is a leading respiratory physician with over 30 years in medical practice. He is dually accredited in general and respiratory medicine. He is the former clinical lead in acute medicine and lung cancer at the Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust. 

He has been a consultant physician for over 20 years and specialises in the diagnosis and management of lung cancer and sarcoidosis, and the investigation of breathlessness. He also sees patients with general medical and respiratory problems. 

He completed his undergraduate studies in medicine at the University of Manchester medical school, where he won several undergraduate prizes, including an MRC scholarship for his intercalated degree in pharmacology and physiology. Following postgraduate training in the teaching and district general hospitals surrounding Manchester and London, he was appointed consultant physician at the Royal Free Hospital in 2001. He has contributed to national and international lung cancer management guidelines and is an accredited expert witness. 

He advises patients from the UK and all over the world, and his grateful patients have commended him in Hansard and the national press. 

He has received awards for undergraduate teaching and has been a visiting respiratory expert for Dubai Health. Dr Beckles has also been listed in Tatler’s Doctors Guide. 

Dr Beckles is a fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and the Royal Society of Medicine (RSM). He is the former president of the respiratory medicine section of the RSM, and is renowned for his excellent patient care. He works closely within multidisciplinary teams and has access to rapid diagnostics and state of the art treatments.
