Spear’s Review

Private banker Iqbal Khan has a raft of senior wealth management roles at UBS to his name, most recently co-president of global wealth management and president of UBS Asia Pacific. As part of the latter position, Khan has relocated to Hong Kong – the first time that one of UBS’s divisional presidents will be based in the Asia-Pacific region and an indication of the importance that the bank is placing on the region.

Khan joined UBS from rival Credit Suisse, where he was CEO of international wealth management from 2015 to 2019 and CFO of private banking and wealth management from 2013 to 2015. He departed the role after a much-publicised row with his former chief executive, Tidjane Thiam, who also left the business.

Khan was appointed co-head of UBS’s global wealth management division alongside veteran Tom Naratil in late 2019 and then named president of Europe, Middle East and Africa in 2021.

UBS is the world’s largest wealth management firm, with around $5 trillion in assets under management.
