Philip Barth
Spear’s Review
Michelmores immigration head Philip Barth advises a range of HNWs and family offices on complex immigration issues. In this role, he focuses on helping HNW clients relocate on economic grounds through various visa types.
Barth joined the firm in 2020 after building and heading up Withers’ and then Irwin Mitchell’s immigration practices. Prior to that, he spent nine years at Penningtons Manches Cooper, where he sat on the Kirkhope Commission, established to investigate the workings of the UK asylum system and propose new immigration policy.
He started his career in corporate law, which he tells Spear’s is an advantage when working with business clients: ‘I was one of the only immigration lawyers working who could read a balance sheet.’ Barth continues to advise HNWs seeking to relocate to the UK, attributing this to London’s continuing strength as a global destination.
