Alex Foster is a partner at Blick Rothenberg, where she advises a range of HNW private clients on their personal and commercial tax exposure – with a particular specialism in offshore trust structures.

‘A lot of the structures I deal with are in the Channel Islands,’ the chartered tax adviser tells Spear’s. ‘But my clients come from all over Europe and the Middle East.’ She advises on the ongoing management of trusts, including navigating their tax implications, advising trustees on making distributions and guiding conversations around whether a structure is still serving its purpose.

In recent years, Foster has seen ‘quite a lot of clients leaving the UK’, adding that it’s often the ‘uncertainty that they’ve had to live through that is the key driving factor rather than what the actual tax changes were’.

‘People just want certainty over how to manage their affairs, their businesses and their lives.’
