Jim Stidham, an experienced partner in Blick Rothenberg’s US/UK private client team, advises HNW Americans living in the UK on personal tax planning, from structuring to compliance to pensions advice.

‘I like to see planning come all the way through to tax returns,’ he explains. ‘A lot of my clients I’ve had a 30-year relationship with.’

As an American abroad, he relates to his clients in a particular way, which can help to alleviate their worries. ‘I call it a “cheat,”’ he chuckles, ‘because I’m talking to an American about something in [their] accent.’

Outside of work, he is a treasurer and trustee of St Paul’s Cathedral Trust in America, which is the main fundraising organisation for US donations supporting the American Memorial Chapel. ‘It fosters an amazing relationship between America and the UK,’ Stidham tells Spear’s. ‘Even if people aren’t religious, St Paul’s is iconic.’
