John Bull, the affable head of private clients at Blick Rothenberg, has the largest team of its type outside the Big Four accountancy firms but is still very keen to stay in touch with individual clients and provide advice on their US/UK tax affairs. 

Dual-qualified in the US and UK, Bull tells Spear’s: ‘A huge part of my role is still client-facing. Probably 60 per cent of my time is still spent dealing with clients, running client portfolios and doing all the good stuff that I did before I started running things.’

Transparency of fees and personal advice are the two things he tries to base his practice on. ‘Where we’re giving advice, we want the client to feel that they’re getting value,’ he says. ‘That’s why we like to talk to them. It’s about the clarity that we can give to them.’
