With three decades of experience at 1 Hare Court, Justin Warshaw KC has built a practice centred on complex matrimonial finance cases with an international and often human rights element.

‘I wanted to be in court,’ he tells Spear’s when asked why he pursued a role in chambers. ‘I really enjoyed the concept of advocacy, even at a time when I didn’t really know what it involved.’ Since becoming a silk in 2015, he has been increasingly sought after by UHNW clients looking to settle jurisdictional disputes, divide offshore trusts and trace assets across multiple jurisdictions.

Warshaw notes the increasingly common occurrence of ‘jurisdiction shopping’, in which internationally mobile clients seek advice about where to carry out their divorce. ‘Outcomes for wives are way more generous [in the UK] than on the continent, where they tend to ignore assets that are held in trust,’ he says.
