Richard Sear KC
Spear’s Review
Appointed a silk in 2024, Richard Sear KC of 1 Hare Court represents clients from across the world in matrimonial finance cases.
Called to the Bar in 2005, Sear practises in all areas of private family law, with a specialism in complex offshore trusts cases and multi-jurisdictional disputes. Fitting, then, that he is known for his numeracy and financial acumen – skills that are crucial in defending clients’ assets in court.
‘Meticulousness’ is a watchword for Sear. ‘Preparation is key in every instruction,’ he says. ‘The more I know about a client and their case, the more use I can be.’
Sear has been instructed in several high-profile matrimonial finance cases, including Goddard-Watts v Goddard Watts [2023] and Nicolaisen v Nicolaisen [2022].
