Spear’s Review

Jeremy Franks heads the wealth planning team at HSBC Private Bank, advising entrepreneurs, wealth creators and family offices across Europe, Africa and the Middle East. A chartered tax adviser, his practice spans wealth structuring, financial planning, family governance, family office advisory and philanthropic advisory – and he helps his clients examine these matters in relation to one another rather than in isolation.

His UHNW clientele are typically looking to pass assets to the next generation. ‘There is often significant complexity,’ he tells Spear’s, ‘and often cross-border issues, because family members may be in numerous different countries.’ Family governance sits at the heart of his work – anticipating conflict, managing uncertainty and ensuring that wealth ‘becomes a force for good rather than potentially corrosive’.

Prior to HSBC, Franks held senior roles at UBS and served as CEO of Knox Private Office.
