As an organ scholar at Emmanuel College, Cambridge, fine wine lover George Lacey had access to the college’s well-stocked cellars, where he first developed his passion for savouring vintage wines (he was also an active participant in the university’s Blind Wine Tasting Society). 

Fast forward a decade later, Lacey is based in Hong Kong, leading Sotheby’s wine department in Asia. He first joined the auction house to head its UK sales efforts at its home on New Bond Street. 

After graduating in 2014, Lacey worked closely with hundreds of HNW wine enthusiasts to grow their wine portfolios as an account manager at Fine + Rare Wines, a leading online marketplace and portfolio management service. Later, he worked at Berry Bros. & Rudd in London, further growing his experience, before moving out to Singapore to become the company’s head of private client sales in South East Asia.
