Richard Bate leads the wills, trusts, tax, probate and private wealth team nationally for Weightmans, a UK law firm with over 1,500 people working from offices in Birmingham, Cardiff Glasgow, Leeds, Leicester, Liverpool, London, Manchester and Newcastle.

Bate is a full member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners and Law Society private client section, with broad experience of working with clients from myriad backgrounds, having worked in large commercial and smaller high-street firms.

He specialises in a range of private client work, including areas such as inheritance tax mitigation and succession issues. He also routinely presents estate planning seminars for large organisations and companies and was previously a visiting lecturer at the University of Law in Manchester.
