Spear’s Review

Described as an ‘ecosystem of happiness,’ Knightsbridge School was founded in 2006 by Magoo Giles, a former Coldstream Guard, with the vision of creating a nurturing environment for young learners.

Drawing inspiration from his own upbringing, Giles established the KS Code, a set of 12 guiding principles that reflect values such as creativity, empathy, respect and resilience – qualities the school seeks to instil in every student. This code serves as the school’s cornerstone, shaping its holistic approach to education.

In addition to an early-years programme and junior school, Knightsbridge School has a senior school for pupils aged 11 to 16.

School Profile

At the core of the school’s philosophy is the belief that children learn best within an ecosystem of happiness. It provides a vibrant, nurturing environment where curiosity, creativity and a love of learning are at the centre of the school’s life. The aim is to inspire each child to achieve their potential, both in the classroom and beyond, so they grow into confident, well-rounded and inquisitive learners.

A hallmark of life at Knightsbridge School (KS) is the breadth of opportunities on offer. Alongside a rich academic curriculum, a wide range of extracurricular activities spark passions, encourage exploration and develop children’s unique talents – on the sports field, the stage, in art, music or community projects. These experiences not only enrich their learning but also build confidence, resilience and character.

Pastoral care sits at the heart of the Knightsbridge ethos. Every child is known, valued and supported to thrive both personally and academically. A close-knit community ensures pupils feel safe, respected and inspired to achieve their best. Guiding this is the KS Code, a set of values created by founder Magoo Giles and embraced by all pupils and staff. The code underpins life at Knightsbridge School and encourages kindness, respect and responsibility.

Families often describe KS as a warm and welcoming community, a place where friendships flourish – among children and fellow parents – and individual success is nurtured and celebrated. By balancing academic rigour with creativity, wellbeing and opportunity, teachers ensure pupils are well-rounded, happy individuals who are motivated to learn and succeed.

Admissions

The school focuses on finding well-rounded children who demonstrate academic potential, curiosity and a love of learning. Applicants are invited to attend an assessment day, which includes informal interviews and activities tailored to their age group. Scholarships are available for exceptional abilities in academics, music and sports, and parents are encouraged to visit the school to ensure it aligns with their child’s needs and aspirations.
