Spear's Review

An academically selective day school for girls, Godolphin & Latymer is well known for both its academic success and warm atmosphere. 

Located just a short walk from both of Hammersmith’s tube stations, the school is situated on a six-acre campus that contains a mix of Victorian and modern buildings. 

The headmistress, Dr Frances Ramsey, encourages her students to be compassionate, courageous and to develop their own passions and interests. This is demonstrated by the wide variety of extra-curricular activities on offer, which includes numerous clubs and societies. 

Godolphin & Latymer offer both A-Levels and the IB pathway. Over 90 per-cent of girls achieve A and A* or equivalent grades, with the vast majority earning places at Russell Group universities.

Academics

98 per cent of GCSE results are grades 7–9.

82 per cent of A-Level results are A* or A.

The average IB score is 40 points.

University and college destinations

In 2024, graduates of Godolphin and Latymer School secured places at prestigious universities worldwide. Notable destinations included Oxford and Cambridge in the UK, as well as top institutions like UCLKing’s College London and University of St Andrews.

Internationally, students were accepted into renowned universities such as HarvardStanford and McGill University.

Graduates pursued a wide range of subjects, from biochemistry and engineering to philosophy, law and international relations.

Head teacher

Frances Ramsey became the headmistress of Godolphin and Latymer School in 2017. Prior to her appointment, she held several key roles in prominent schools, including being principal of Queen's College London and director of studies at Westminster School

Admissions

The admissions process at Godolphin and Latymer School is selective, focusing on academic potential and personal character. For 11+ entry, candidates take exams in English, mathematics, and reasoning, followed by an interview. 

Sixth Form applicants are assessed through subject-specific exams and an interview. The school also requires a reference from the candidate's current school.
