Grant Parkinson

Spear’s Review

Grant Parkinson joined Standard Chartered Private Bank as regional head of private banking for Europe, Africa and the Middle East in late 2020 and now serves as head of consumer, private and business banking for Europe. He previously held chief operating officer roles at Brewin Dolphin and Coutts, where his responsibilities included developing new client propositions and opening a booking centre.

Parkinson, who is based in London, encourages HNWs to engage in philanthropy and believes that it can be a useful mechanism to unite those less involved in the direct dealings of a family business.

‘You’re only going to have a subset of the family engaged in the active running or perhaps being shareholders in the business,’ Parkinson has previously told the press. ‘So how do you engage the wider family more broadly, in terms of the purpose of that business and that wealth? Philanthropy is a key part of that.’

Adviser Profile

He joined Standard Chartered from Brewin Dolphin where he was Chief Operating Officer and led development of technology solutions for client-facing colleagues and digital. Prior to that he worked at Coutts, also as Chief Operating Officer.
