Spear’s Review

Matthew Radcliffe joined Russell-Cooke as a partner in 2026, after spells in the private client teams of two City firms and in-house at one of the Big Four.

‘Historically I would have been considered a non-dom private client lawyer,’ he tells Spear’s. With that regime gone, his practice now centres on HNW and UHNW clients with an American or Canadian nexus, from Britons moving to the US to Americans settling in the UK.

He helps these clients navigate the US–UK estate tax treaty, the UK tax treatment of LLCs and revocable trusts, and other residency rules.

‘I’m not an accountant, I’m not an immigration lawyer. I use my network, as complex problems require holistic solutions,’ he says. ‘It’s about listening to my clients and figuring out what they need.’
