Harbottle & Lewis litigator Gerrard Tyrrell advises on a variety of information protection, privacy and defamation issues. Formerly senior partner at the firm – a role now held by Catherine Bedford – Tyrrell has four decades’ worth of experience in this field, and has been with the firm since 1984. He continues to lead its media and information practice.

‘The philosophy of the firm is best summed up by the statement made when it was founded: “We do interesting work for interesting people,”’ says Tyrell, who counts numerous household names as clients, including members of the royal family.

He’s also explained to Spear’s previously – at the firm’s offices next to the Savoy – that video-games entrepreneurs are a growing constituency, noting that one such client ‘writes code from a beach in Mexico’.
