Rory Godson
Spear’s Review
After a stint as business editor of the Sunday Times, Rory Godson served as director of corporate affairs at Goldman Sachs before setting up communications consultancy Powerscourt in 2004. Now, following an acquisition of the firm by Sodali & Co, he serves as senior managing director.
He previously told Spear’s that he enjoys helping clients ‘navigate uncharted territory, protecting them from their enemies and getting them home safe’. And, when it comes to clients’ problems, ‘the tougher and more complex it is, the better’. That outlook may be a consequence of his journalism career, which, he said, ‘taught me to deal with multiple sources addressing challenging issues under great time pressure’.
Across his career, Godson has equally made headlines. In 2018, Powerscourt was hired by Sir Martin Sorrell’s investment vehicle, S4 Capital, to handle its financial PR, and again in 2019 when he was named one of media’s most influential people by the Evening Standard.
