Strutt & Parker stalwart James Gow has been at the firm since 2007, and currently serves as a senior director in the private client team.

Gow relishes his work for HNW families, family offices and other organisations, priding himself on his ability to scout out the best properties across the area. ‘That is actually the main part of my working day – I’m very much at the coalface,’ he tells Spear’s.

His clients are increasingly searching for ‘lateral space’ – larger homes, of which a greater number can currently be found in Kensington and Holland Park than in Chelsea. Usually looking after a small number of Kensington clients on both the buyer and seller sides, Gow reminds clients ‘to have a simple brief, to communicate it clearly to their agent and to be prepared to be decisive when the right thing comes up’. 

Standout sales include a house in Holland Park (which Gow has sold three times) and a number of homes on the Phillimore Estate.
